Rpm??help

everytime i start the car it sounds normal, then 2 seconds later the rpm jumps up to about 7000rpm. Also when im driving, the RPM and the MPH guages just stop working all of a sudden and just stays on zero. I have no idea wat to look at first for the problem and i dont wanna take it to a dealer without making sure i can do it myself. Anyone that can help it would be great.


P.S. Does anyone know where i can get the rubber thing near the windshield thats stops water from going into the engine bay. Thanks

the thing withthe rpms jumping to 7000 is crazy!!! is it just the guage going up that far? or is it the engine reving all the way up there? there are three fuses i beleive that control all your guage check to see if one is almost dead (the reason why i say almost is becuase if it works for part of the time it might be going and hanging on by a thread haha.
