Hi guys, i'm looking at selling my car soon but unfortunately the material on the ceiling inside the cabin is coming off. Any suggestions on how to DYI this problem?
Also, the cloth trims on the doors also seem to be coming off, same issue here. Should i just replace the inside door panel? Is it cheaper?
I wouldnt go as far as saying replacing a panel would be the cheap solution because they can get $$$$$$$$$. Check with any apolstry shop and they should be able to fix you up. My GF's 325IS just had the headliner redone for $150 and her door panel the material was coming up a little and they removed it stretched it and reglued it back done just as it was from the factory.
You can find the 3m HD upholstery/headliner adhesive at most Advance Auto part stores for about $8. But the best route is to take it to a professional upholstery shop and just let them do it right.
+1 Hamfisted i glued my buddy VW headliner and the miami sun it came right back off in about 2 months. He ended up getting an upolstery shop do it for 60 bucks and in a differet color.
in terms of technical difficulty, i rank upholstery in the same category as tinting windows. technically not difficult, just a major pain in the ass. i'd rather replace an entire cooling system than do upholstery or tint.
if you even have doubts about it, just take it to a pro and get it done right the first time.
haha i'm just the opposite of you... i'm lost under my hood. well not really but i haven't done much work myself. upholstering is a little bit of a pain but hey a few beers and you're good...
