Peoples, please help. I have a 1994 320i SE. It rocks. But it could do better methinks. I have seena couple of car mags with induction stuff in, filters, hoses, ducting etc etc. I have never fitted one before but want to get some info on how easy/difficult this is to do and whether anyone can recommend which induction kit is the best (noise/performance) and what actual bits of kit I need. I know this includes a replacement air filter (I think the cone shaped ones are probably going to get my vote) and some hoses but, let's be honest, I don't really know much more than that. Don't really want to have to spend more than £100 either....

If you want to spend less than 100 euro which I am guessing to be around $125 US right now, you are most likely not going to be able to buy a kit for the induction. You could find one on E-bay, some people have good luck with theirs and others have gotten some pretty bad ones. However, you can make your own for less than that. All you need is either some PVC pipeing or steel or aluminum pipeing, I can't remember the diameter right now. if you get the metal pipe then you need a way to bend it, such as a machiniest. Then you just need to be able to drill a couple holes, and match a cone filter to the diameter of the pipe. You can also use dryer/hearter duct for some parts of the intake as well. I'll see if I can find a little more specific information for you. My car came (used) with a short ram style air intake, and I've seen no need to spend the money to make one, when I already had one.
