Hey
Last week I noticed that my steering wheel would vibrate a bit at low speeds and a little on high speeds too. I was unsure what it was but assumed all I needed was balancing. When I took it to the tire shop, they said somehow all 4 of my rims were slightly bent, I took the car to the dealer as well who confirmed the same thing. I have never hit my wheels or tires against anything significant at all. Has anyone heard of this happen ? I know when I got alignment done like a month or more ago, the tire guys said to come back within 100 miles to get my rims re-torqued , but i went and got them checked after 400 miles, and he said the torque was fine. could that be the problem ?
They also assured me that it would not cuz any mechanical problems but was only more of a annoyance issue.
Maybe its time to invest in some new rims, on the 328i with the sport package would 18 hit the body ? also I live in illinois where we get a lot of snow, are 18" recommened ? or 17" ?
thanks

All 4 of my wheels are bent too! - which is causing an annoying vibration in the steering wheel and in my seat between 45 and 60mph. I was going to get them all straightened for $75 each, but last week I let my wife borrow my car and (I love her) she hit something which blew my tire and bent the rim and so it won't hold any air. So I'm just got my rim straightened and refinished for $225, but I will have to wait until my car gets back from the shop (because the dang thing won't start) in order to see if the bent rim fixed the vibration problem, or at least some of it.
hey guys
thanks for the reply. Do Let me know if straighting the rims helped. I would love to get some 18" but with low profile tires would they be fine in the snow ? Cuz with traction control and snow tires it slips in the snow, without snow tires would it be worse ?
any idea where to look for good steals on rims and tires ?
thanks

yea 18's are a bitch. they bend so easy my fronts are bent allready. if your worried about $$$ for rubber then go with smaller rims the tires will cost less. anyhow there should be local places that straighten rims it just sucks because they will just bend again when you hit something deep.
well, if you have low profile tires and lets say 17's you gotta be carefull.
I have the same setup and sometimes going over an intersection with shitty roads, I hear a *thud* ghead as the rim hits the pavement cause the tires are short and cannot absorb the impact. I have been lucky so far, but train tracks and bumps will kill yer rims.
Hey
so do you guys recommend just sticking to 16" 's then ? Even now when I go on rail tracks I can feel it cuz of the tighter suspension. I really wanted to go a little over 16" (although the car sits fairly low on 16"s too), but if its gonna be a hassle mite just stick to 16"'s. Also 16"s are cheaper and i can use my same tires
