I have an e36 '97 bmw and im wondering how big is too big for rims. I'm going to be getting chrome rims and I don't know if I should get them in 18" or 19". Does 19" look better and fuller than 18"? OR is it just too big and makes the car look awkward. Please give me your suggestions.

18 would be the biggest i would go for the sake of ride quality/handling. and they look ok too

I agree. Personal opinion: 19" look big. 18" look proportional. I wouldn't go bigger than 18s.

18" is really pushing it. i'd go with 17" alloys

Yea, 17's or 18's. Bigger rims will decrease comfort too much.

18"s at the biggest. nice wide 17" are perfect IMO

A few years ago Car and Driver was given a BMW to test and in a year (long term test) they broke three 18" rims. They claimed that there was too little tire to absorb the impact. I usually buy 17 inch rims for any mods after that story.
