thanks for the help. found it and did it as instructed. used a cheap plastic clamp and a piece of insulated wire. easy as pie.

Peake Research has a tool that does everything.... diagnostics... reset... everthing...

www.turnermotorsports.com sells them... about a buck forty...

I have this cheap one, and it works perfect for me (only e30 and e36 I believe)

thanks. the grounding of terminal 7 works for me. i can't say it'll work for everyone, but it's pretty easy and cost me nothing. this is the first time i changed plugs in like 50k miles and the car runs like new.
