reset obc

recently my car was repaired from someone rearending me. Since they unhooked the battery it reset the obc and the radio. Now the obc works fine, but i cant use my radio because it displays "code" and im not sure what the code is. Is there anyway to fix this or should i just take it to the dealer?

dealer can supply the code. but it usually costs money, first thing to check is your owners manual, there should be a card in there with your code. if not than see if you can get away with getting it from the dealer and not paying.

I don't know how it is on BMW's, but at the audio store I manage, when someone comes in needing a code for a Mitsu, or a Honda lets say, we pull the factory radio out, take down the serial # and call the service dept. and usually over the phone they do it for free. We usually don't tell them we are doing what we are doing, because they probably charge anywhere from $50-$100 to do it. We just tell them we had to take the battery loose and the radio locked up and we need the code. We charge the customer who brought it in $25 unless it is a real hard job to get the radio out we may charge up to $10 more. Try a local reputable audio shop first, then if all else fails, go to the stealership!

ya. Stealership around it its around $40 as they call it a halfhour of labour.

if the dealer will do it for $40, thats not too bad at all. I would go ahead and let them do it.
