Reset Check Engine Light

hey, i just put a performance chip in my 92' 325i and now the check engine light is on. i have heard this is somewhat common, but how do you reset it without taking it to the dealer?

Usually any parts store, such as Western Auto, can reset it for you. Keep in mind, a lot of the times the parts store's reading equipment cannot read the BMW code and therefore can not diagnose an exact problem. They sometimes just get a code number/reference number in ehich case you can call the dealership and they will tell you what's up. However, they can reset the light with no problem.

Im not sure if it works on a 92' but in my 95' I just disconnect the - battery cable for a minute and re-install and its gone. Make sure you have the radio code first before you attempt to do this because it will reset your radio when the battery gets disconnected.
