I see these replica M wheels and other BMW wheels on line and I wonder how different they are from the real thing. I was always planning on getting the real thing, but in some cases these are much cheaper Any thoughts?

by looking at them, u cant tell any difference usually....but the build quality just isnt the same. they will get damaged more easily and are usually heavier

Most of the replica wheel companies make a good product. They are made well, just no to the level of oem. The "real" wheels are lighter and staggered...

also:
brand new oem bmw wheels are overpriced...
if you want the most bang for your buck try and get a wheel and tire deal from someone that got bigger rims on their e46:
example:
some rich guy buys 19's for his brand new m3... hes gonna sell the old m3 wheels for not too much (try ebay)... but the wheel will be a good one and the tread should be nice on the tire (depending on how new)

i've seen some NICE oem bmw wheels and tires for $300... with lots of tread and excellent condition... they were off a 323 but still they were 16's and ya think about it

I have also seen refurbished oem wheels that look really nice and not too exspensive. Does anyone have anything to say about refurbished wheels?

i have 2 reffurbished wheels on mine... they are good... you have to make sure they dont have any curb rash or any messed up paint. before you purchase

by no means are replica wheels crap, just not as good as OEM. Dont the 5 series wheels have a lower offset than the 3's? or is it just the 7 series that has less offset

I don't think anyone on this site that doesn't have the stock 15 or 16 sport rims has OEM rims.

depending on the company, some reps dont have the Mbadge on the rims, some dont use the same finish and of course quality is usually the biggest giveaway.

These are mine. They come with the M badge and the OEM center caps. They are going to be heavier, but the look is exact, and bad ass may I add. I didn't want to drop 2000 on OEM 18" M3s. I have had zero problems and am extremely satisfied. I bought from wheelexchange.com and they X ray each wheel to ensure consistency. I love 'em.
