I'm trying to upgrade my 328i 96' with larger rims, 17" style 23 M-contour. I know there are many replica wheels looking just like originals, but I wonder how good they are. I heard originals are forged, but replicas casted. Would that affect safety and rigidity when something emergency happens. Such as cranks on itself or cracks and so forth.....
If you have any intellectual info or knowledge on it or any sound advice, I'd definately appreciate it. Once I upgrade my bimmer, I will post the picture.
Replica rims tend to be more easily bent. Save your self the worries and just buy oem. They are much better! If you try to save a few bucks now, you'll end up spending more on fixing the replica if anything get's bent!!

sorry bro, but i definately dissagree....u can go to tire rack, or the wheel exhange or aaarims, and pick up there m-countours for about $600.... when if u go to bavauto, and get them for $600 a rim??? your better off getting knock off's... and save the money!!
i'll tell u this... make sure u wax the rims, b4 u put them on... AND, don't hit any curbs!! because u'll be sorry!!
about the bending of the rims????... ok, u might be able to bend them easier, but its A LOT cheaper then buying an oem rim!!!!! 200 a rim??? or 600 a rim??? YOUR CHOICE!!

Did you even consider how much it costs to get bent rims fixed????? I can tell you this much that if you add the price of your rims and the cost of getting them fixed, it will be the same as the oem rims! Also don't forget that the knock off rims weigh a lot more then oem rims! Which means slower pickup fromt start...more gas...n
It all depends on how you drive. If you are a very careful driver who avoids all pot holes (even at night) then go with the knock offs.

OK, so bend easier as in, go over reflector in road and bend, or like hit a curb when parking and bend, or what. Im asking like how much more delicate? Are OEM like indestructable or something?
no they arent industrictable (spelling) haha all i know is if you live in a place that has good roads replicas wont be bad at all, it you live ion the county with potholes and shit then you might not want to get htem, or just be careful> i say go knockoffs if you dont got the money!
Obviously every one would rather have name brand rims, especially if they could afford it. But what if you saw some one driving around with replicas, would you:
A) even notice
and B) notice and say "What a dork for buying replicas"
?????
I agree, I'm going with replica's as soon as I find a place that sells them.
