how the hell do u remove the area in which the heated seats, cigarette lighter and traction control is???

i need to check the wireing for the cigarette lighter...

Assuming yours is a manual, pop out the leather gearstick gaitor and slide your hands in underneath the panel containing the switches, give it an upward push from underneath and it should just clip out.

Same as mine then

Ok, pretty similar proceedure; with the engine off, pull the shifter right down into 1st gear so you can get around the front of the shift knob, there should be a hex bolt securing it (i'm assuming you have the T Handle shift like mine?)....

With the shift handle removed, you can now unclip the surround, unplug the drive mode switch (sports, economy, manual selector switch) and withdraw the surround completely.

Now pop your fingers underneath and give it a push. :wink

ok thanks... so basically its just clipped in!!

its not attached to the base of the shifter surround? right??

and no, i don't have a t handle!! i have a normal knob, like an e46 would have!

Yep, but such a pain to prize out from the top, you'll probably mark the panel if you try, thats why I attack from beneath!
