Rebuilding 325is

i recently bought a 1992 325is from a rebuildable car lot it was a theft rcovery it was missing a computur vavle cover wire harness and cluster. i purchesed all the parts (except the cluster) and got them installed by a machanic. the car now starts but idols very rough and sometimes shuts off at times it will run and drive but there is a white smoke coming from somewhere on the passenger side under the engine dose anyone know common reasons for these problems or can offer any help. it is an automatic and has a 403 computer

yeah im a little bit thrown by the post, if its your intrument cluster it wont affect your performance, i bet you probabaly need to tune the car up. the mechanic probably slapped everything together and didnt tune. happens quite often.

as for the smoke, i wonder if something isnt burning on the headers . check it out in the engine bay or under the car.
