I want to be able to lock all my doors just by pushing down the lock in my car, but there is a problem. All the locks go down, but then seconds later they all pop back up. What the hell is going on?
If I lock the door from the outside they all lock down and stay down.
my locks WONT push down. u just gotta use the key on the outside and then they usually unlock right after that at least once. then the second time stay locked.
i'm pretty sure not, because why would all of them close in the first place. Only one would close and the rest should've stayed up if that was BMW's first intention.
from my expirence since there is no un-lock, lock button, you use the drivers (or passengers) door lock to make all door locks go up down. That is why all of them go down in the first place. I have owned 2 bimmers and both operated like this. By them popping back up (when the car is off) I assume it is a protection from locking your keys in the car by mistake.. you dont have a problem here

this is correct, its a bmw double lock system designed to prevent geniuses from locking keys in the car
here is my predicament...
Say I'm getting out of my car, and my doors is open... I can't just push down the lock and have all the doors lock. They lock, but pop right back up. I've always assumed this was to prevent me from locking my keys in my car.
Therefore, I've always had to use a key to lock my door...
Now, here's where it gets interesting... This problem was intermittent before. But now is always happening.
My doors lock fine with the key in my driver's or passenger side door. All doors lock when I turn the key. BUT... when I go to unlock them from either door, they unlock, and then quickly LOCK again... So to open my doors, I have to quickly unlock, and grab the handle real quick before they lock again. If I open the door before they usually lock again, they DO not lock. (Is this possible a door-sensor type issue?). Like I said, it doesn't matter what door I use the key in, it still locks after I unlock.
Now here's the even weirder part... My key has never worked in my trunk. I don't know why. I don't think it's a frozen thing. Right now, even with the doors unlocked, I cannot open the trunk. I used to be able to, but when this unlock/lock bullshit problem started happening, my trunk stopped working. It hasn't worked since this problem started being continuous. So basically, I have no trunk access at all unless I go through my seats...
"Doors: If the central locking system unlocks itself after being locked or locks itself after being unlocked, the actuators could be defective or the trunk lock may need to be adjusted. (1992-93)"
Anyone know about adjusting the trunk lock or actuators.... grrrrrrrrr....???

Any suggestions???????
I have a similar issue, in that the key that starts the car, works the door locks, and works the glovebox lock does not turn the trunk lock at all. However, I have a separate key that looks like the master key picture in the manual that works the trunk and does not work any of the other aforementioned items. I just find it random and mildly annoying...I figured somebody had the trunk lock replaced at some point, so it's on a different key.
