Hey, I have a '94 325is US spec. Does anyone have any pictures of the rear fog lights on the Euro models? Or any pictures from any Euro BMW rear fog lights? I still haven't seen them yet!
Thanks!

I've never seen them either and I was stold that they don't exist at all on E36 3 series. On the E46 cars however the rear fog lights aren't lights but 2 red square reflective strips on the lower rear bumpers. On some SUV there is a similar strip of even red light that works as the "rear fog".
(Also don't assume it to be a white or clear light, rear fog lights will always be red.
Imagine the confusion on a foggy h'way if you follow a car and see the rear red and brake lights and all of a sudden the lights on that car turn white/clear as if the car is coming towards you.)

Here you go...so far the only one's I've seen are on E46 Ci cars
and from the pics those rear fogs are just reflector strips..unless there is a rear foglight switch that turns on a bulb behind the reflector strips that lights it up...
at any rate you get the idea...I'm sure I've seen older E30s with similar rear fog reflector strips/lights as well but again I'm not sure about E36 cars.
This picture has the reflector fogs lit up either from the camera flash or a bulb.
However there looks to be a "rear fog" button on the dash left of the steering column...so it may light up and not just reflect....
Thanks for the pics. I know mine doesn't have the rear fogs, but where my normal fog light button is, below that there is a empty spot and a picture of the rear fog light. Odd.

I was under the impression that the rear fogs would be built into the current brake lights. The reason we do not have them here is because they are not required here. In germany they have some terrible fog. There it is much more important that the guy behind you sees you than being able to see with your front fog lights. I can't remember, but it might even be required over in Germany to have rear fog lights.
Yes, they do exist on the e36. My 1992 318is had a button for the rear foglights right underneath the button for the front foglights. Of course, it was not hooked up to anything. I highly doubt any were installed in the US spec e36 stock.
My 318is, 1993 (German version) has rear fog lights. Unfortunately, I don't have front fog lights, which is a shame. The switch is the same than for the front fogs. The button is the lower one on the switch.
Hope this helps.
Thanks guys! After looking at that link of the e39, I remember seeing those all the time on Mercedes's and Audi's. I always thought, "Damm, what a piece of sh!* their brake lights on stuck on!!" Haha. Know I finally know THOSE are the rear fogs. Good to know. I seem to learn something new about these German machines everyday!
yeah I may actually do his mod to my E36...by adding red reflector strips (identical to the ones on the E46 Ci) below the rear bumper trim...just for show....

Those aren't rear fog lights, they would just be reflectors.
Im not saying that those fog lights on that link for the e39 arent fog lights but usually at the back there is always only one fog light, towards the middle of the road as its used only so cars behind you can see you and not for your own visibility like front fog lights!
On my 320 there is a switch for rear fog lights right underneath where my frong fog lights should be (yeah i dont have front ones), nd when i press it you can see a brighter light inside your normal tail light, on the right hand side here in New Zealand (its a south african import) but for most of you im guessing should be the left side! Only works when your lights are on though!
oh nd those are reflector strips or whteva but definatelly not foglights
