Radio Code - BMW Forum

I took out the battery and the pan it sits on because the antenna gromet was missing and water leaked in the trunk. So, all is clean and back together and the radio needs a code. My daughter just bought the car 3 weeks ago and there is no info in the manual/records that came with the car. What can I do to get a code. Oh yeah, I tried a few generic codes and now code wait is showing up.

Generic codes? If the previous owner didn't/can't provide the code, you'll need proof of ownership and the VIN to get the code from a dealer.

Just take the car to a dealer. They will give it to you free of charge. They look up the VIN.
If the radio was ever changed then you will need to get the serial number off the back of the radio. Not a huge ordeal. Write it down and bring that to the dealer. If you allow the dealer to remove the radio they will charge you for it unless the daughter is all girly about it and plays the part.
