Im taking my Car to Ohio in a few weeks for school, so i want her running the best she can when I make the journey. How much should the following cost? (From a shop that specializes in BMW's, but not the stealer)

Radiator flush, waterpump, serpentine belt, change/add/check all fluids, and anything else you guys would recommend...

how long is this journey? unless your car is overdue for those things dont bother, it wont do it harm on a long trip anyway. its better if u do it when u get back and sort it out before you start doing short trips again.

whats a serpentine belt?

well its definitely been a couple of years... so I want to do it now since idk when the last time it was done.

ps- the serpentine belt is the main belt the turns your alternator, a/c compressor, etc.

how long has it been since ur last timing change? Oil?

keep some coolant, and a couple quarts of oil in the trunk on the trip

I would say have the car completely diagnosed by a mechanic or a reputable garage, they will tell u what needs to be replaced and what has to be done.

if its running fine now it should be fine on the trip... just get a lube job and you should be good to go...

well im definetly doing the waterpump and belts... so does anyone have an estimate?

like 1000 bucks also change the timing belt, since the guy is opening ur whole frontend.

^^ No timing belts on these beautiful cars. We got them there chains.

$1000 ???... Oil change, filter, rad flush, change the water pump and serpentine belt (while doibg this have them inspect all your pulleys for squeakies) thermostat while your at it. If your serpentine is not cracked or showing signs of 'dryness' then you don't need to change but if you want to be real anal about it then do it, all the more power to you.

Low end : $600, high end: $800

thanks for the good info man! Ill do my own oil/filter, but thanks for mentioning the pulleys, im having some squeaks, I thought it was just the belt, ill definitely have him look at it.
