Can anyone tell me what the S in a 97 328iS means? Does it stand for sport, as in sport package?

i= fuel injection
s= sport or two door
ix= all wheel drive (e30)
xi= all wheel drive (newer models)
ic= convertible

Originally on the e30 seems to me the "s" represented a sport package because you could get a 325i two door. When they made the e36 I think BMW just used the s to mean a coupe. Not sure if there's actually any sort of a sport suspension with it.

A little help here

Kevin

thinair is on a distinguished road
On the e36's, 'S' just means coupe. You can get a 328is for example with the sports package, as well as without it.

My 1983 320is henna red coupe came with high back Recaro leather seats, front/rear spoilers, sport steering wheel, wider rims/tires. Don't know abot the sport suspension. I do know it handled very well and the steering/front suspension was very tight.
