Quetion about the Check Control module inside

here is my question it might sound dum but im going to ask it anyway i have a 1998 323is it had the 11 button module i wanted to know if it was possible to unplug that one and to plug in the 18 button one since it has all the range and stuff like that is this posible or no thanks
