Okay the guy I bought my new (used) m3 motor from called me and told me about a possible problem I could have concerning the m3 security. He said it's possible this motor won't start without some kind of security module or ignition specially designed for that motor. I have never heard anything about this before in my life so I thought I'd ask about it.

another question. I'm more then likely going to do the obd1 conversion while the motor is still out of the car. I know I need to get a m50 manifold and wiring harness/ecu to do this. do these parts need to be from a 94/95 obd1 car though? I still have my wiring harness for my 325i, but I doubt this will work. any info on this?

the EWS security could be a problem. you need the module, key, and ring off the chasis your getting the engine from or else the car wont start. I have however heard that a conforti chip (or most aftermarket chips) have the ability to disable EWS.

yeah that's the thing I was talking about... anti theft device... so a chip can disable this shit possibly? the car it came out of is flatout gone!

yeah tell me about it... he's kind of a friend of a friend so he called me to tell me this and he's willing to help me find a solution to this.. sounds like I might just be able to "cut" the wire and move on with some jim c software. I think I'll need to talk to bmw on monday...
