question about new wheels/tires

i replaced my 15x?s with 205/60/x on them (OE) for 17x8.5 with 225/45/17s

yeah the entire wheel and tire is a bit bigger. will this throw off my speedometer and odometer? if so, how can i re-calibrate them? (i have had very little experience with rims and tires)

if you need any additional info please ask. thanks!

The difference will be 9 rpms per mile, a 1.2 % increase. Not worth worrying about.

If you would like to know what changing tires will do, try this site. It's a Miata site, but good info. www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html.

Do you know of a site that tells what size will fit? Spefically the offset. I'm thinking about getting rims with the following & wonder if they will fit without any spacers, mods etc...
SIZE: 17 x 8.5
BOLT PATTERN: 5 x 120
OFFSET: 40mm

Have you tried www.tirerack.com? They recommend wheels and tires for your car. And at one time, guaranteed fitment. Check their website.

i like them alot. the only problem is that since they are a larger diameter than my old tires, they raised the height of the car a bit. oh well, guess i'll just have to lower it
