If you have a chip does this get rid of your rev limiter? I ask this because I apparently don't have one.... 7 grand in 3rd isn't good.
Second, is there a visible difference in chips? I've never looked at a picture of one, so If i took all the crap off so I could see the chip, could I tell what kinda I have if chips do get rid of your rev limiter.
sorry for the late reply.. kinda forgot about this. Can the engine take 7 grand? Also visible difference between chips? Or do they all look like doritos?
I can't take the delema. Chedar and sour cream ruffles, or pringles...... And for dip, definetly ranch.
The engine should easily take 7k. If the chip properly adjusts spark advance and fuel delivery at 6500-7000 the engine should have no problem.
If I were an engineer at BMW, I'd make sure to build my engine to handle more than where they put the redline incase of a misshift. That's just me though.
If it were a problem, people wouldn't be selling them anymore.
Personally I like the sound of the tunable Bavauto ones. But it seems like everyone around here hasn't tried them or doesn't use them. Most everyone wants the JC chip, or Dinan.

I guess no one else wants to man up to salt and vinegar either?
The problem with Bavauto chip is that your car is unique, and much of the "programming" they do is based off a limited number of testors. Further, most of the "optomizing" they do relates to stuff that is measured by various sensors in the car, which the DME then translates into more power on its own.

SCREW those dips, I make the best dip here. Everyone who hasn't tried this should make it, its real easy. Here it goes:
1. Get 1 whole cream cheese, preferrably Philadelphia cream cheese.
2. 1 can of Dennisons chili w/NO BEANS. put the 2 items in a sauce pan, and stir until the cream cheese has melted in with the chili.
3. You can add chopped olives or chopped chili peppers to make it spicy.
4. Now take your tortilla chips and start dippin.
1 glass pinot grigio
good sizeable amount of real swiss, room temp for at least 4 hours (needs to soften)
Asiago
chopped jalepenos and olives
cayenne pepper to taste
few good dashes of tobasco.

yeah I love taking cheese dip (like the crap in the little glass jars) put in a can of chillie. Then add whatever hotsauce you have, red pepper, cumin and then if you have some faijita seasoning thats good too.
Can the engine parts take the 7 grand that the chip sets the limit at? Also does any one have a dyno chart of a 318i with a chip? I'd rather not dyno my car, because of cost. But I am interested in where the power comes now.
