Q About Torque Converter

hi guys...

I have one E36 M50 with auto tranny.
My shop sentenced me that I need to replace my Torque Converter ... which basically means the whole tranny block since the TC is not sold separately here.

The problem was basically I hear this loud shreeking sound from the middle area (not from the engine though) whenever I accelerate hard around 2000 RPM.
If i release the gas pedal then it stops immediately.

This only happens when the car is moving, so revving while the car is up on the lift won't produce the sound.

Do any of you have an idea whether my mechanic's analysis is correct?

It all depends on how knowledgable your mech is... and if you trust him... buy online.. its a lot cheaper for the same part.. stay away from the dealer at all costs... I would ask for another opinion from another shop if I was you.. just to make sure..

hey I have a 95 325i m50 torque converter that came from my car which still worked great when I swapped my tranny. i'll sell it if you need one.
