Q About Rpm Please...

I have e36 a/t and its going strange today.

1. I feel that the rpm goes down very slowly after i rev. So during during traffic jam, its a little above 1000rpm even when im braking. Then it goes down to 750 after a long stop.

2. sometimes the rpm goes higher by itself if i shift to N or P - and the car is in full stop.

any help please??

Same thing is happening in my car for the last 2 weeks. I thought the engine was cold and it was the auto choke doing something to stop my car from stalling.

i would check ur exhaust or maybe the 02 sensor, what happens is if there is a leak in the exhaust, the 02 sensor senses that there is not enough pressure and therefore causes the engine to do that...
