Profile Gasket 318i - BMW Forum

I did a search and could not find a thread on this issue.

I just purchased a 1992 318i. It currently has 102,000km (64,000 miles). After searching a bit online, I've found that the profile gasket is a weak spot on the 1992 model. Apparently it was resolved for the 1993 model year.

Seeing as I am a first time BMW owner, I am trying to find the weak spots on this car, so that I can anticipate some of the maintenance issues I may encounter, and be prepared for them.

Any advice from someone who has experienced this, or can offer any general advice on this model would be greatly appreciated!

I had this model a several years ago & she was on a '97' never had any major issues, only faults I had, climate control unit, faulty speedo gauge, central locking problem, trunk/boot cables, all quite minor niggles, let her go on 147,000miles & she was still going strong!!
