Problem Pulling Away

This morning, I started up ok, drove to the end of the road, waited for a gap in traffic, then pulled out in 1st gear. The car bogged down & I ended up crawling over the junction.

I didn't have the heater on, just had the lights & radio on quietly, it was cold outside but nowhere near freezing. It had been raining last night & my car was wet but nothing out the ordinary (hey, this is England!).

What do you think this could be? It has happened once before, a couple of weeks ago...

I had this problem with a very old car, when it was dirt stuck in the carb - obviously this would not be the problem now as my bimmer is a 1997.

If i try to pull away in 1st and give it any pedal it lurches until I whack it into 2nd - do you mean this?

Basically I tried to pull out & it felt like I was in 3rd instead of 1st - although it was definitely in 1st!

Did it chug - rev up and down and the car kangaroo'd - then fine in 2nd

Our problems are very similar - I replied a little earlier to the topic you started a couple of days ago. Hopefully we can get this sorted out asap.
