I've seen pictures of a couple of cars ('96 & '97) that claim "premium sound" yet lack the "HK" Harmon Kardon badge on their front door speakers. Is it possible that they do indeed have the premium sound package, or are they more likely just trying to take advantage via a game of word play (e.g.: "Uhh, I never said it had the premium sound package. IMO, any BMW's sound is 'premium', so I listed it that way.")? Is the "HK" badge always present?

from what I've seen, yes ;o\ Although maybe the "Badge" wore off over time? Mine have the badge but the one on the drivers side door is slightly fading. Just a suggestion

HK and premium are not the same. They are different options all together.

They had HK on the back side of them... and the thing that dealers put in the window says... 10 speaker package... with a 200W amp.

HK is 8 speaker,

2 Kick, 4 in front doors, 2 in rear deck.

Premium is the same, but has 4 in the rear.

Basic is 6 speaker. 2 kick, 2 door, 2 rear.

I thought the other 2 speakers in the rear were just crappy little tweeters.
