After lunch my window was down about 2 inches on the pass side and I thought I pressed down.. but the window went up and now nothing.. it will not go down - no noise.. press down on the switch and nothing.. drivers side is fine..

Any ideas?

did it make a snapping noise when u put it up and down prior to this. my driver side mirror does the same now. i think the motors on the way out

It could be just the button. May just have to replace that. I had to do that to my driver side door.

Well power is going through it.. at night I had the interior light on.. then I pressed the pass side pw switch and nothing.. but the interior light dimmed a bit.. when pressed.. so power is getting to it..

Probably the motor is gone

Wow - I had no idea BMW were that expensive!
Power window doesn't work and now I have to buy a whole door..

if you have a e36 you don't have to replace the damn door to replace the window motor thats just nuts who ever told you that wants money out of ya

Look for "window crank" post by carbarns in the e30 forum. Repairing/replacing the window motor is difficult but not impossible.

Interesting...

When I open the door on the pass side the window goes down half an inch and back up when I close it. So something is still operating.. it is as thought the motor works but the switch may not..

Any ideas?

(Switch will still make the overhead light dim when pressed - but the window will not go down with the switch..)

Dude, I don't know if that was a joke but you don't have to replace your door...I can't think of window problem that would require doing that....
