Okay...

Today I removed the driver's side door panel on my 95 325is, with the intent of cleaning the window regulator tracks and re-greasing them.

I learned something really important today that I'll share in hopes that none of you will be this stupid to do: I had unplugged the window motor (safety first!) and then greased the tracks. I plugged in the top connector on the motor, but forgot to plug in the bottom connector...

I got everything re-assembled and rolled the window down to check that it was greased well. Oh, crap! It won't roll up. at all. So I'm all

At any rate, to make a long story short, it seems that rolling the window down with that second connector undone made the window motor think that the window was all the way up, when in fact it was all the way down.

I tried the "window switch" reset trick, but that didn't work.
I ghead for a while and then got irritated and shut the door.
It came up a little! Ah hah!

I spent the next 5 minutes opening and closing the door to inch the window up.
Now it works like it's supposed to.

Sorry for the long post, just thought it might be helpful to somebody.

i know, i was considering making a strip of photos, chronologically showing how i cant get it up, the photos would be of me proceeding to unzip my pants, then at the last moment pressing the window button, where my window will prove to be impotent

btw, sorry kestrel, thanks for the warning, and sorry for ruining your thread

It's funny after the problem's fixed. I like the idea of the impotent window pictures......
