Anyone have any idea where the cheapest place is to purchase power steering hoses for an e36 325? I have a powersteering leak that is pretty bad, and well it would be good maintenance also.
thanks,
Nick

one of the best places that i know of for oem parts at a good price is pelican parts
btw
you might want to check where the leak is coming from
my buddy bought new power steering hoses yesterday, per advice of a guy at local indy shop, we replaced the hoses and when we went to pour new fluid in, it was still leaking, turns out he had a small crack in his reservoir, the hoses were fine, waste of $150
just letting you know because i was up till 2a.m. friday night fixing it for him
they're not hard to change at all, there is plenty of space, you'll need a 10mm and 22mm sockets, screw driver or 6mm socket for hose clamps, a razor blade or utility knife is useful in removing the hoses as well,
if you're chaning the hoses, unbolt them from the bottom, probably will need some pb blaster for the banjo bolts, once you do that the cooling hose should come off the bottom of the reservoir with a little force, however the hose going from the reservoir to the power steering pump is a biggity bitch, i'd recommend unbolting the reservoir, there's only one 10mm bolt holding it on in a clamp type holder, once you unbolt that and unbolt the hose from the pump you can pull the reservoir along with the hose up and out of the car so you can really tug on the hose to get it off
one thing you might want to try is, check the ends of your hoses by the reservoir, if you see one or both are leaking go get new hose clamps (screw type) not crimp clamps, and cut about half an inch off the end of the tube and re clamp them, if that doesn't work i'd suggest getting the new hoses
also when putting everything back together get the banjo bolts tight but don't over tighten them, because being that they are hollow they are really easy to break

thanks for the advice, I just need to find time soon to do this. If the hoses are broken near the fittings I will just re-clamp them. I think they are like $80 each, sounds crazy to me.

yeah it is pretty steep, but the cooling one for example is not just a rubber hose it goes into the long winding metal tube and also has a resistor valve type thing in it
I got mine from pelican parts. I guess they had a good price on them, because I had been looking for them for a long time, so I am guessing I liked their pricing
I went ahead and got one of everything -- clamps, bolts, I even got a new reservoir.
