power steering

whenever i turn my steering wheel fully left or right and press it to the end so it doesnt go anymore i can hear some motor struggling, like trying to push something further but it can't! is this normal?

then the other day i did a U-turn and all of a sudden something started squeeling whenever i turned even slightly, by now it has stopped, any ideas?

It has a pressure release valve that opens when you turn it to the stops. I would check the fluid level if there is a squeal, even if it's stopped.

How about we check the fluid level...

Then check your tyre pressure...

Then check the system pressure...

There is no need to change the whole rack... your crazy.

mine does the same thing... ive even had it stall out my engine before... it worried me for a while but now i just go all the way as much as i used to... my fluid is fine... tires are also... how would i check the system pressure??

You have to find a pressure checker that fits the top of the resevoir... many shops have them... easy as that.

I'm talking output pressure from the pump not standing pressure.

oh this is not why im changing the steering rack, the actual rack is broken, the teeth things are worn in the middle so its loose, its not gona cost too much, i found a 2nd hand one. and tires are fine, ill try and get the system pressure checked too!
