i did a bo bo i bought a bmw e36 compac as a delivery car its grate except for it don't rev over 3000 rpm so max speed is 100 kph for me
after 6 month of stuffing around with technichens i went to a old skool mechanic 20 mins later we found that this is funny
because some apprentice changed a 1" diameter hose for a 1/2" hose on the 2ndary air line to feed the exhurst pipe the car is getting a false reading at the exhurst sensor it will tell the computer that there is to much fuel then it backs the fuel of to near starvation the jurk a bit then give me the shi-ts the excel is like having 4 flat tires driving up hill can any one comfirm this
no sorry done another scan it come out with a prob with number 4 injector secondary air supply but nothing with censers or and its not the cat done some little checks and found that the exhurst valve solenoid was at 33ohms instead of 30ohms but latley the dash has been failing to work (no instruments but lights ) its not like you can't dirve it i just done a 1800 klm drive it had no power no torque but it depends on what start it is (it has a selection of 10 starts before it give me a OK run heaps of revs power and torque then the next couple are stuffed ) could the key be the problem
update time i now have requests from mechanics and auto electrical blokes to come back and let them know what it is they were free!!! happy me any way what is the vacume plunger near the inlet pipes on the 1.9l motor for how much dose this suck dose it sopose to have clamps on it?????? (a mechanic that charged me may have left it of) and when you loose the tacho, speedo ,fuel gauge, temp gauge but still have lights and odometer and trip meter would that be a problem with the shite heap
One injector fault would not cause your problem ! It will gladly rev with the others.
As for the Vacuum, clamp ALL pipes as they have a specific job to do...
Personally, I think your problem is electrical !!
Does it idle/tick-over fine?
And what happens at 3k rpm?

it stops its like a rev limiter it idles fine but the first tap on throttle is dead same as the down shift have to press twice and very gently to get a response
Hmmm... Have a look at the throttle-body and notice the cables... Maybe run the engine and twist the throttle actuator by hand, you should be looking for resistance !! Give it a go mate...

i should also tell you that the brake clutch and throttle get heavy and light together and its from the start of the motor till its turned off at the end of the drive its one or the other heavy or light
checked the throttle only the spring resistance is there put hose clamps on the vacume leak adjusted the throttle cable toyed with throttle position censers now revs to 6000 rpm at 1/4-1/3 throttle then decreses in revs as more foot is applied also i straighted out the air flow censer elecrical plug its half working now will know more later at work
it was horrible lots of free revving but none in gear (lack of power) will reset the throttle cable when i wake up today did notice some thing with the throttle body the butterfly goes further then open and starts to close again (me set throttle wrong way) also i notice that you have push at the top of excelerator pedal and not the bottom of the pedal also with the throttle position censer if it is disconnected the traction control light comes on but makes no difference to power (there is no cruse control fitted to this car) if i back of a little on the throttle from where it plays up it gains a little revs dose the throttle position censer have to be placed back in any fancy way like a twist or a turn before it gets screwed back in i think that's been taken off
