Ok in my 1993 325is
whenever I hit a bump or turn the wheel, (i think to the right always) it makes a kinda of clunk/pop noise
Now I took it to a repair shop and they said they rent sure what it is, except they couldnt remake the noise when it was lifted up in the air, BUT they could always remake the noise when it's sitting on the ground.
but they werent sure what it is, but when it makes that noise you can feel it in the wheel, and u can also feel it where that little plastic ramp is to the left of your left foot, (i guess it's so you can put your foot up on), near where the clutch would be (except mines an auto so I dont have one)

Easy to check whether the ball joints and/or tie rod ends are bad. Jack the wheel up. Hold the tire on top and bottom and try to wiggle; also hold on left and right sides and try to wiggle. If there is a play when you do that, then you've got figure out where the play is coming from. Have someone else do the wiggling, and you go behind the wheel and watch which component is loose (ball joint, control arm bushing, tied rod end, etc.)
