Please help with '92 325i that won't start

Hello, my name is Luke and this is my first post. I bought a 92 325i in non-running condition. I am getting it ready to be my 16 y/o daughter's first car. I need some help diagnosing the problem and there seems to be some real knowledgeable people here.

The car did not come with a battery so I put one on and the motor now cranks over good but does not start.

I removed a fuel line and saw I was getting no fuel. I ran 12v to the fuel pump fuse and I got fuel at the engine but it still will not start. So I replaced the crank shaft position sensor and it still will not start.

I sprayed some starting fluid into the intake and the car sounded like it wanted to fire a little more, but still wouldn't start on the starting fluid spray.

I know I'm not getting fuel without jumping power to the circuit, but now I am not sure if I am getting spark or not. I am also not sure if I have enough fuel pressure.

I ordered a fuel pump relay and it will be here tomorrow. The car is a 4 door and has 200,000 miles. I don't know much about the history other than it ran one day, and the next day it would not. That was about 8 months ago that it died.

I have done a lot of work on GMs and Fords and so far I am impressed with the build quality of this BMW. I am hoping someone will take a few to help me work through this and get it running again. Thanks in advance for any help.

hi, what is the inspection light showing on the dials? i would advise you to download the bentley BMW 3 series service manual e36 from this site and check to see the fault codes. to me it sounds like either your fuel lines need flushing as does your fuel tank and at the same time i would check your plugs and ht leads.
what about imobilisor? it seriously could be a number of things, but if it sounds like it wanted to start, it can only be a short walk around the corner... find out what you can and im sure that if i still cant figure out what the problem is, somebody else on here is.
