I'm a newbie to bimmers , just bought a 92 318 i E36 after countless yrs of
driving a honda civic.I saw a whole bunch of performance chip available
on fleabay and would love to hear from pros which one should i consider ?
and what r the pros and cons.Any advice is greatly appreciated.
So i was reading pelican article and i assume i should be using premium gas
anyone using regular instead .yeah i will do a search on dinan and turner motorsport chip.
if you upgrade with a chip, then there is NO subsitute for gas... you HAVE to use premium no questions about it... but yeah i would go with turner if i were you (assuming you dont have a bmw warrenty) if you still have the warrenty some how then look into dinan as they are included in the bmw warrenty and it may be worth the extra cash to spend and get one that will be covered in your warrenty... if you donthave one go with turner, they IMO are the best out there and you will not walk away unpleased...
Thks all and i am reading until my eyes bleed . great forum ..
I will definitely replace the chip very soon as i only had the car
for 2 wks and i need to know more about this toy inside out.
yes but IMO the turner chip is better, and is set to whatever other mods you have already done to your car while the dinan and bav is an overall chip that doesnt zero in on being "custom" for your car... so if he doesnt have a warrenty (which i dont think he does) i would deff. go for the turner chip.
sorry to say that Dinan has different chips (which I might add is just a software download) for different mods stage 1, 2, and 3. Also consider that if a Dinan chip doesn't void the warranty that should tell you something about there engineering!!!! AND ITS THE SAME PRICE.

beg to differe dinan products aren't god like or anything, they just have a relationship with bmw dealers
as for chip software whatever, i'd reccomend doing it last out of any mods you plan on doing, so you can get it tailored to the mods you have which will increase the benefit of the chip, and yes for any performance software i've heard of, the need to use premium gas is a given
