Painting bubls silver

I tried searching for this, but couldn't find it. I thought I saw a thread on it a while ago, but I can't find it. Anyway, what paint do you use to paint the amber bulbs silver, and they will still blink amber? Is there a special way to do it, or just spray and go. Let me know, thanks.

i do it to mine and use model paint. You reall should use high temp paint, as it flakes off over time if you do it too thick. Still cheaper than paying $20 for bulbs that come silver though.

I left the clear bulbs in mine. I think it makes it look clean, and they're street legal.

Damn, well I tried with ColorTouch Spray Enamel and couldn't get it, maybe I was spraying on to much. I held the bulb pretty far away too. I'll try again i guess later.

As the pic at the end of the thread I started illustrates, you just want to pepper the bulb with paint, not really coat it. I took me one practice bulb to get it right.

Hold the can 12-16 inches from the bulb
Mist the bulb with the spray paint
Allow time to dry

High heat paint would be ideal but not crucial, I've had no issues with the paint I bought...

Maybe the tip on your particular can doesn't spray very fine. I got mine at an arts and crafts shop, so the tip was designed for small projects...

Went to walmart tonight and got some bulbs to mess around with. Oh yeah 1.49 for two special. I'll try again tommorow. Oh yeah, and I got my spray paint from Ben Franklin, which is a arts and craft store.

Or you could just buy white bulbs that look infinetely better...

To me, white bulbs look bad. Turn signals are amber, and should blink accordingly if the housing is not.

I thought you had to have either amber lenses or bulbs to be legal.
