Painting Black Trim.....

I've seen more than a few e36's that have had their black trim (that runs all around their car) painted to match the color of their car. My mech (who almost always has reasonable prices), said his paint guy quoted him at $600!! I guess the material they are made out of requires a lot of prep work to paint on, or they will chip. Anyone have this done? Better prices?

Yes, they do require a bit mroe prep work than you are thikning. $600 to me would have been appropriate if he were matching your skirts aswell and bumpers, but since you already have those painted I think he's askign for too much.

I will do it for $20. I think I have a shade of red spray paint that will almost match.

$600 is way to much IMO. I payed $260 for all my trim and it was a very high quality job. Look around at some other auto body shops.

i paid 300 bucks....( including the the trim) no problems with it! only 110 bucks to paint!!
