I had the idea to maybe paint just the front and rear black strips on the bumpers to the factory silver. What do you guys think? I know I'm askin' for it here with an opinion question, but....let 'er rip.

I prefer the black moldings. I think that when they are painted to match the care it makes the car loose definition. Rather, I thinkyou should spend the money on M-tech moldings.

I'm definitely getting the M-tech mouldings for the sides. On a side note, I just received my Bav Auto catalog....ooooooohhhh, I'm like a kid in a candy store.

They are actually quite difficult to paint. I've seen many professional paint shops paint the molding strips only to see that a couple months later the paint starts to chip off. It's even more impossible if you have the USA spec rough moldings.

very rough photoshop tweak.
Instead of painting them maybe matching body color mouldings can be purchased from BMW.

I could try seeing if BMW makes them silver...some how I doubt it. I think it looks kinda cool, even in the photoshop tweak that Silver4evr did, but just on the front, and rear. Black M-tech mouldings on the sides, and silver on front and back bumpers....oh...I dont know.

someone else painted them on the forum, and they chipped. i like the black, but if you really want to get colored, search around to see if there are ones that are allready color matched

I have those moldings on my bimmer...and I really like them. I personally would never touch them (actually should blacken them a lil, must buy back to black...they seem to have slightly faded).

If you only do the front and back...i think that would look a lil too funky. Though it is your car after all.

i'll still have it black... it gives more volume to your car. also, the contrast provides greater depth perception than it would if it were purely a monochrome...

just my .02..

I don't know why that pic i had was broken, but here's the pinata beating you'll get if you paint your moldings!

BMW doens't sell them. Maybe some other aftermarket company, but I have never seen/heard of such a thing. I'd be glad to keep it that way too...
