hi all, i have '92 325i 2.5L V6. The other day started leaking antifreeze, i kept on driving it to the house, and then an oil pressure gauge came on and the car died on the highway. after letting it to cool down i couldm't start it anymore. i checked the oil and it was dry. i added oil but it still wont start now. does it sound like bad news? internal engine damage?
oh yeah it cranks, but it just wont fire up anymore. cranking is strong too. and i never did an upgrade either. dont leak oil either. but when i drove it overheated it all dissapeared....
Its done. You got it so hot the head warped/cracked and all the oil coolant mixed and probably most went out the tail pipe. Start looking for another engine or car cause to get an M50 properly rebuilt with as many new parts as yours is going to need is going to cost at least a few grand.
hi guys its too bad if my engine is hooped, i really like this car. i probably still try to fix it it. what kind of mods are you talking about? sorry i have never dealt with that before.
First of all get the car checked by a mechanic. I think we're all pretty confident on our assessment that your engine will need to be replaced. However, diagnosing these things over the internet can be iffy. Have a professional look at it.
If you are going for an engine swap, do not put in the engine from a 318. Well, at least I recommend against that. It is a great engine, but you will have to go through some trouble to mount the engine properly, only to end up with a lot less power and torque. A six-cylinder from another 325, a 328, or an M3 would be easier.
Despite the sad circumstances, welcome to bimmerwerkz...
