this is the diagnosis from the mechanic...is this a common problem on 318's with 120K miles that have been well maintained?
Am getting suspiscious about this mechanic and reckon he may be causing more trouble than he is fixing.
Yup. Buying a bigger engine sounds good and all but suspension will definately be needed to support the weight along with handling since u got more weight up there that wasnt there before. Lots of hidden costs there

Dude 1500 for a couple of valves. There is no way that the "metal piece" damaged the piston so for some head work and maybe some machining...1500 is too much. I got my entire head rebuilt for only 2500 with machining. He is pulling your leg. Dont let him get away with it. Have a look for yourself. And about a larger engine, have fun with that. It isnt as easy as these guys are saying!!!Good luck!
