I just bought a '98 M3 and it came with the standard OBC with 11 buttons instead of the 18 Button computer. Is it possible to swap the computers, or is there additional parts that needed to be added enable to switch the computers.

Good question...

I just droped a 18 button in my car and it works fine.

But I don't know what it had before. (7, 11, or 18 button). because it was missing all together.

The dealer will know. I don't think there is any additional wiring. Are the 7 additional buttons just time realted, i.e. trip time, distance measuring? I have the 18, but I don't know what the 11 button consists of.

there is a way to rewire the 11 harness to work with the 18. Its really not useful though. I'll post the link when i get home.
