The sketch you showed consists (in reality) of 5 green, a yellow, and a red light ending with oil service and inspection.
Normal behavior: when the ignition is on, you get a high green 5 , then depending on your use and driving style the green lights will turn off one by one-calculated miles. As when your car reaches the last green light, this is to signal you to the next service is just due but you still have sometime. It is telling you in other words start looking for a place to change your oil.
When the last green light is turned off, the yellow light turns on along with oil service and/ or inspection. This tells you: you didn’t look for Jiffy’s lube so your next maintenance service is due or over due. It will continue until the yellow light and red light show you oil service or inspection.
The above can be reset by a tool as such if the motor has oil in it with 15.000 miles when reset, it will give you all 5 greens…but…..
Now you saying your oil is still good for x miles this means you have to reset it. Usually done at the same time/place of oil change.
For future reference:
Model year 91-older is 7500 miles
Model year 92-98 is 10.000 miles
Model year 99- Newer 15.000 Miles (Except 99 E36-I don’t know why)!!
