Oil Problem

i noticed that there was like a black sandy sort of stuff all over the bottem of my car.it looks like oil but i dunno. what is the best way to clean that off. just a simple degreaser and a towel. someone let me know please

i wouldnt worry about it to much, its probably a bit of engine oil, but it could have been there for years.. as for the sandy bits, thats probably just grit and dust from the road thats stuck to the oil over time a little bit of oil can go a long way! if you had a leak, there would more than likely be drip warks on the ground under it.. a good degreaser and old rag will get it off i'd imagine too. hope this helps unless your talking about the under seal..

most automotive stores will carry a variety of engine degreasers. just beware when cleaning your engine to cover all parts or areas with electrical.

What do you mean all over the bottom? Like completely covering it?

ya its pretty much all over the bottem of the engine. and i do have a leak whats the best way to find out where its coming from?

How many miles does your car have? Did you check your valve/head cover gaskets.
