oil near air check valve?

Hi everyone,

I have a '95 325is with around 146k on it, and today I noticed that there is some oil (a mostly dried out, dirty mass) near what I think is the secondary air injection valve (it's #3 on the air injection diagram on page 130-5 in the bently manual). I think this is what I'm looking at, anyway - it's a port near the front the motor, right under the plastic cover that goes over the intake manifold (the one with the silver lines on it, not the valve cover). There's two or three rubber lines, which I imagine are vacuum lines) there.

Anyone know what this is, exactly, or why there would be oil in that area? It's not a huge amount of oil or anything that has me really worried, but I'm still concerned.
