Angry oil leak in front of motor

Just wondering if you guys have ever changed the front gasket where the timing chain cover is. I have a leak in my 97 318i M44 engine and wondering if anybody has done that before?

I will send pics later but the leak seems to come from the front of the engine onto the power steering and flows back as I drive.

that gasket is actually easy to replace (your talking about the profile gasket which is the top gasket on the engine).. its probably leaking at the ears, the gasket usually always fails at that point, there like little half moons.

are you planning on doing the gasket fix yourself?

Allright!! Thanks speedinfusion, already have the bentley manual, but thanks for the info because it was easier to get to what I wanted to see. And for
M3uond, well if you want I can help you get here and I got access to a military hobby shop with lift and a great selection of tools. or depends if you want me to go your way. let's definately plan on that for around the first weekend of May say around Friday the 5th-Sunday the 7th.

Will provide food, beer and gas money for you to make it here. that ain't no s*** either. Say are you going to hot import nights on Saturday? it's being done on the Dulles expo center
