Just wondering if you guys have ever changed the front gasket where the timing chain cover is. I have a leak in my 97 318i M44 engine and wondering if anybody has done that before?
I will send pics later but the leak seems to come from the front of the engine onto the power steering and flows back as I drive.
that gasket is actually easy to replace (your talking about the profile gasket which is the top gasket on the engine).. its probably leaking at the ears, the gasket usually always fails at that point, there like little half moons.
are you planning on doing the gasket fix yourself?
its very simple , i would do a DIY but its been a while since i did mine last, so im not gonna make one just incase i screw up a few steps. to give you an idea, you can do a search about my M3 motor swap and i have a few mentioned steps in the thread, with a few pictures.
Well, I live in southern Maryland. if you are in the close states it would definetly would be worth to work on it together since it would be great to put a DIY on it so others could benefit. and hey Furious thanks for all of your help so far
