Just notice today that there is an oil leak underneath the engine toward the front of the car. Not sure exactly where its coming from. I degreased the "area" today in hoping to try and find the source.
This leak is recent 'cause I've been working on my car the past few weeks and didn't noticed it before. Here is what I did so far before the leak:
-Changed the valve cover gasket and plugs (Checked the gasket and no leaks anywhere)
-Changed the oil/filter myself for the first time (used Castrol 10W-40). Filter is clean on the outside and the drain plus is clean.
I'll try to get a pic of where the leak is and post it.
if you can get a good well lighted shot of under the car, it shouldn't be too hard to tell where it is coming from. Try and get a shot as far up as you can, the farther up and closer you can get will help out a lot. And also a pic from farther away, so we can tell where the closer pics are easier.
Well..I checked out under the engine last night and everything is dry...no leak visible. Will check again in a couple days and see. I have a feeling it will show up by then.
Check the hose clamp on the bottom of the power steering reservoir. My 92 325i had a drip every once in while run down the tube. Its a bit of a pain to change the clamp if you don't pull the reservoir.
hell no... had someone do it for me.. my mechanic did it... cost me about 150 in labor and 20 for the gasket. could also be your valve cover gasket which I did myself...
the car needed to be lifted up to get to it easily to do the pan.
I have a leak in the head gasket for about 1 year now, the dealership gave me outragous quote to fix it ($1500-2000 canadian), I told them to fock off. Is the quote reseanable.
I replaced the valve cover gasket a few weeks ago so can't be that. Gonna see if I can find any DIY on this. I just can't imagine bringing it to the dealer..its gonna cost me.
