I was on ebay and alot of the stuff says OEM. This might seem like a dumb question but what does that mean? Im also new to bmws and was wondering if anyone could explain what E36 means. Thanks alot guys, Im new and i want to know whats goin on befor i order parts.

Its what came from the factory... or who BMW had make them the part... OEM parts... are usually manufacturers that build the parts to the same specs as the original equipment.. but just not by the same manufacturer... Understand??

A better explanation of E36 (it's kinda cool) is that is actually a prototype number. Starting at E1 and I think they are up to E90 or so, it's the concept car designed to be considered for production. So the 36th car BMW brought to the table for production, is the one you own. Obviously the holes in numbers between the ones that available (like E35 for instance, you can't buy one) is the model they chose not to make.
