The air pipe.. or whatever it's called, on my car needs to be replaced. It's in bad shape. It connects to the plastic cover on top of the radiator and I think it leads to the alternator (not sure..). Anybody know exactly what it's called, or where I can find it? I'm attaching a (crummy) picture of what it is, recognize it?
yeah that piece isn't too important really. you could just tape it up and put it back where it was and you'd be fine. but yeah, i wouldn't worry about any problems from driving without it, i mean, its only purpose is to direct air-flow...
CAUTION: ganjacide was being sarcastic!
Your alternator produces a fair ammount of heat and it must be cooled! You need to replace this part very soon, if anything, tape it back together so it can at least get the cool air that it NEEDS if you HAVE to drive somewhere.
Alternator failure is usually not noticed untill it's too late and your car will not start because the voltage on the 12V battery is somewhere around 6v when your stranded in the middle of nowhere.
