I could be mistaken but, isnt this my OBD Port? theres one under the hood too... and the second pic is showing that it was made 5/97...??? Yet, it has the OBD I port, becasue I thought OBDII ports were square

Do you have a US model? The rest of the world did not switch over to OBDII until later. Also, are you sure that is a pic of your OBD port? On the first picture, on the left, I see what looks very much like the cover of my OBDII port (with the plastic screw thing). I guess that is a picture from under your steering wheel/that general area, so I won't ask if you took a picture of the right place. Oh. and maybe get us a pic of that OBD port without the cover on. The cover may be round, but perhaps the plug underneath it is not.

sorry to bring this trhead back up, back i have a 96 328i and i'm having an issue finding the obd port. the pic is the same as my car, and that black square to the left in the pic says obd on it and there is nothing behind it, i took off the panel and there is nothing there, now im just wondering if the pic of the circular black thing to the right in the pic, is that the dummy plug that goes into the obd port, i would go outside and check right now, but it is pouring outside. could i just pop that out and it reveal the obd port?

i've had the dash out on my 328i and the first pic was not an obd port. as far as i know there is only the 1 under the bonnet. no idea what the thing in the first pic is though.
