OBC- on board computer problem (no light)

Hey guys, I am new here. I just bought a '93 325iS, and having problems with the display where you are supposed to get mileage or distance traveled and average temperature outside and inside the car.

any experience solving this. I can see some letters/figures but no light so they are not readable.

The clock area lights well though.

Should I just go and and buy and replace the O B C.

you need a new backlight. If I recall its $4 from the dealer. Its a ripoff, but what else can ya do?
