I have 97 328i. I was wondering if the OBC can be changed on out? I have the 7 button and wanted to put in the full 18 button computer? If i do will i get all the functions of the computer?

The different OBC's have different connnectors. You would have to take it out and look to see if there are other connectors in the space. some do and some don't, guess it depends on year.

what are the advantages to having the more advanced obc? i mean it sounds liek a good idea, i was just wondering what makes it worth the hassle

the more advanced one has speed, timer, and trip displays. i dont think it is worth the hastle, ore even possible to get those features to work

very complicated do it an your own risk, you can really mess things up, i thought about doing it, but it's very complicated
